Hold your baby before it is even born, thanks to Mcor 3D printing
Finding out you are a mother-to-be is stressful enough, with so many decisions that need to be made early on in pregnancy, decisions that can ultimately affect your child’s health and wellbeing. Ladies, you may find yourselves asking “Should I breastfeed my baby or use formula? How often should I take folic acid?”, etc etc. And, probably most importantly, do you want to remember your unborn child and ultrasound scan with just a standard 2D ultrasound photo, or with a life-size 3D printed foetus model that you can actually hold in your hands? I can imagine the option that most expectant mothers will go for!
I came across a recent video on Channel Mum, entitled “6 Parenting Trends – Channel Mum Predictions for 2016” and I found that 3D printing foetuses was on the list. There are several 3D printing companies now claiming to be able to print a full-colour 3D printed model of your baby, however only one of these companies can offer true full-colour 3D models – and that’s Mcor.
The 3D printed foetus craze seems to be inspired by the trend of “gender-reveal” parties in the US, where parents-to-be invite their families and friends to their house to announce the gender of their unborn child. I’m sure we’ll see this trending in Ireland soon! However, if you would prefer not to know the gender of your baby, there is the option to have the 3D printed foetus model designed without the genitals revealed.
How amazing would it be if you could actually hold a photorealistic full-colour model of your baby’s tiny body in your hands before it was even born? It is becoming easier to obtain the 3D data needed to print a 3D foetus and once you have this data it is easy to print a full-colour 3D model with Mcor’s unique technology. Send the data to our 3D printer and voilà…you have your baby in 3D. I’m not a mother yet myself but I think it would be pretty cool if I could experience this while I was expecting!
