'Memery' at the Massachhusetts Museum of Contemporary Art
The sculpture is a 3D scan of a relief in a church in Utrecht in the Netherlands. It is probably the most iconic remainder of reformation iconoclasm. The faces of the icons are destroyed, as it was often done in reformation. The interesting thing about iconoclasm is that the destruction of an image creates one. The destroyed icon became the signifier for the new ideology and progress.
This work will be on display at the Massachusetts Musuem of Contemporary Art in an exhibition called, Memery.
